Pakistan Football Team Begins Training for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Jordan
The Pakistan football team has kickstarted their training in Lahore for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Jordan. The matches are set to take place later this month, with the first leg scheduled at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad on March 21, followed by the second leg in Jordan on March 26.
The training camp, led by English coach Stephen Constantine, began on Monday evening and is supported by fitness coach Claudio Altieri, goalkeeper coaches Rogerio Ramos Dal Solio and Nouman Ibrahim, as well as strength and conditioning coach Muhammad Ali Khan. The local players participated in the initial session, with overseas players expected to join later.
Pakistan has so far faced two defeats in Group G of the second round qualifiers, losing 4-0 to Saudi Arabia and 6-1 to Tajikistan. The team aims to regroup and improve their performance in the upcoming matches.
The camp probables include goalkeepers Salman Ul Haq, Saqib Hanif, Hassan Ali, and Abdul Basit; defenders Mamoon Moosa Khan, Muhammad Sohail, Junaid Shah, Umar Hayat, Haseeb Khan, Muhammad Sadam, Muhammad Hamza Munir, Kamil Ahmad Khan, and Muhammad Adeel; midfielders Alamgir Ghazi, Rajab Ali, Ali Uzair, Moin Ahmad, Zaid Umer, Mohammad Zahid Shah, and Ali Zafar; and forwards Shayek Dost, Fareed Ullah, Muhammad Waleed Khan, Muhammad Waheed, Muhammad Adeel Younas, and Yasir Arafat.
Following five days of training in Lahore, the team will shift their base to Islamabad to finalize their preparations before the crucial qualifiers against Jordan. As the squad gears up to face their opponents, all eyes are on their performance and determination to secure a positive outcome in the upcoming matches.
