“Macarthur FC Set to Reach Milestone: 100 Isuzu UTE A-League Matches”
Macarthur FC is gearing up to mark a significant milestone in their young history as they reach their 100th Isuzu UTE A-League match against Melbourne City this Friday. A crucial game for the Bulls as they aim to solidify their spot in the final series, sitting at fourth place with a six-point gap from City in seventh.
Having experienced a rollercoaster ride since their league debut in 2020, Macarthur has seen highs like reaching the final series in 2021 and winning the Australia Cup in 2022, followed by lows of finishing at the bottom in 2022-23.
With a total of 139 goals scored in their first 99 games, Macarthur’s attacking prowess is evident, with Ulises Davila and Valere Germain leading the charge. Davila, with 18 goals and five assists, has been a standout performer for the club, while Germain has already made a mark with 11 goals and five assists in his debut season Down Under.
Defensively, Macarthur has conceded 166 goals in their A-League history, the highest among teams in their first 100 matches. This season, their leaky defense has seen them concede 33 goals from 368 shots faced, with an expected goals against (xGA) of 37.48.
Despite their achievements and shortcomings, Macarthur aims to improve their record as they face Melbourne City, a team they are yet to defeat in the A-League. With City struggling in their recent games and Macarthur’s potent frontline, the Bulls are optimistic about clinching a victory on their milestone match and potentially scripting a new chapter in their evolving story.
