Arsenal Rejects Al-Ittihad’s Offer for Leandro Trossard

Arsenal has reportedly turned down a significant offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for Belgian winger Leandro Trossard. The proposal, understood to be an initial £4 million loan with an obligation to buy for £25 million next summer, was swiftly rejected by the Gunners.

The 29-year-old Trossard is considered a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s squad as Arsenal aims to build on their recent successes and challenge for the Premier League title, a feat the club has not achieved in two decades. Despite adding Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window, Arsenal does not view him as a replacement for Trossard.

Trossard, who joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023, has quickly established himself as an important player for the team. He recently came off the bench to score in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa but showed a muted celebration, possibly reflecting frustration at not being in the starting lineup. He also started in the 1-1 draw against his former club, Brighton, at the Emirates Stadium.

As the transfer window in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League nears its close, Arsenal’s decision to keep Trossard underscores their commitment to maintaining a strong squad as they compete for the Premier League title.

This rejection highlights Arsenal’s resolve to hold on to key players as they seek to end their 20-year title drought.
