Updates and Plans for the 2024/2025 V-League Season
The Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) recently unveiled plans for the upcoming 2024/2025 national professional football tournaments, featuring the participation of 24/25 professional teams. The event highlighted key details including the competition schedule, draft regulations, and other organizational aspects.
The 2024/25 season is anticipated to kick off towards the end of August following the conclusion of the 2023/24 V-League in July. Scheduled around 5 FIFA days off, each spanning approximately 2 weeks, the season will also incorporate a break for the Vietnamese team competing in the AFF Cup 2024. The total break time earmarked for national team fixtures in the V-League’s upcoming season is pegged at 116 days.
An interesting departure in the V-League 2024/25 setup is the absence of breaks for young team assemblies and competitions, a development that has drawn criticism from media, local football experts, and certain coaches.
VPF’s blueprint for the timeframe of V-League 2024/25 dictates a mid-August 2024 start with a wrap-up slated for the end of June 2025. The schedule encompasses 24/26 rounds to be staged over weekends, ensuring intervals between each round for audience convenience at stadium venues.
However, concerns were raised during the conference regarding the brevity of the preparation time for the ensuing season impacting club readiness. Consequently, a proposal was tabled to defer the opening date, garnering approval from 13 out of the 13 teams present, setting the stage for a mid-September 2024 commencement. This adjustment may culminate in clubs facing a denser schedule in the approaching year.
In another significant announcement, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Referee Board outlined plans for the deployment of VAR (Video Assistant Referee), outlining operational methodologies and relevant regulations. The integration of VAR marks a progressive stride for the V-League, signifying a move towards enhanced officiating standards.
Overall, the unfolding of the VPF conference shed light on an array of pivotal details concerning the upcoming 2024/2025 national professional football tournaments, promising an eventful and competitive season ahead.
