Vietnam parts ways with Coach Philippe Troussier after disappointing loss to Indonesia at My Dinh
The Vietnamese national team suffered a disappointing 0-3 defeat against Indonesia at My Dinh Stadium. Jay Idzes (9′) and Ragnar Oratmangoen (23′) secured the lead for Indonesia, with Ramadhan Sananta (90’+8) sealing the victory in extra time. This marks Indonesia’s first win at My Dinh since Tiger Cup 2004 and is the third consecutive triumph for coach Shin Tae-yong’s squad over Vietnam.
Shortly after the match, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the termination of head coach Philippe Troussier’s contract. The decision came following discussions between LDBDVN and Troussier after the World Cup 2026 qualifier against Indonesia on March 26, 2024.
Troussier expressed gratitude for the support from players, clubs, VFF, and fans, apologizing for not meeting expectations. VFF acknowledged Troussier’s professionalism and contributions, wishing him and his family well.
In a statement, VFF apologized to fans for the team’s recent underwhelming performances, urging continued support for Vietnamese football. The federation aims for fans to maintain trust in and backing of the national teams despite recent setbacks.
