“Update on Nguyen Cong Phuong’s Injury Status for Vietnam National Team”
Vietnam national team coach Philippe Troussier has called up Nguyen Cong Phuong for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Indonesia, despite the player not featuring for Yokohama FC. However, a recent ankle injury recurrence has put his availability for the match on March 21 in doubt. The Vietnam Football Federation revealed that Cong Phuong was absent from the team’s training session on March 17 as Troussier prioritizes player recovery. This marks Cong Phuong’s return to the national team after last featuring in October. The Yokohama FC injury has hampered his physical readiness for the upcoming matches. Cong Phuong has been training with the team since March 13 alongside teammates like Thanh Chung, Xuan Manh, and Hung Dung. The V-League and National Cup players are segregated in training sessions to balance physical abilities and enhance technical and tactical aspects collectively. Though the injury is not severe, it poses a hurdle for Cong Phuong’s playing prospects, especially for the Indonesia clash on March 21.
