“Controversy Over Hang Day Stadium: V-League Clubs Refusing to Leave – New Proposals Made”
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) recently issued an official statement regarding the current situation concerning V-League clubs and stadium usage. According to AFC regulations, the national football championship must adhere to a home-away format, allowing a maximum of two clubs to utilize the same stadium. However, since the 2023 season, three clubs – Hanoi, CAHN, and Viettel Sports Club – have all expressed their desire to use Hang Day stadium as their home ground for matches, which goes against AFC guidelines for professional football tournaments.
As a result, a new proposal has been put forward, suggesting that one club will be required to vacate Hang Day stadium at the end of this season. Yet, as of now, no club has shown willingness to depart. Hanoi FC has stated that they have invested heavily in upgrading the stadium, deeming it unreasonable for them to leave. Viettel, a club with a rich heritage, is reluctant to move, while CAHN prefers to stay due to favorable conditions at Hang Day.
As reported by Thanh Nien newspaper, the three clubs are contemplating a proposal that the team finishing lowest in the V-League standings at the end of the season will have to relocate from Hang Day stadium. Alternatively, they may seek additional time from VFF and AFC to secure a new suitable venue in the event of being forced to leave their current home.
The stalemate continues with no club willing to make the first move to vacate Hang Day stadium, leading to a standoff that could potentially impact the upcoming V-League season. The clubs involved are determined to find a solution that is agreeable to all parties involved, ensuring a smooth transition for the club that will ultimately have to bid farewell to Hang Day. The situation remains unresolved, with the fate of the three V-League clubs hanging in the balance as discussions intensify to reach a consensus. Time will tell how this issue will be resolved as the season progresses.
