Honorable Mention for Vietnam, China Bitterly Ousted from Asian Tournament

Vietnamese U20 Women’s Team Defeated by China in Asian Tournament, North Korea Advances to Semifinals

Vietnam’s U20 women faced a tough challenge in their final match against China’s U20 women. Despite being eliminated from the tournament after two heavy defeats, they aimed to salvage some pride. The Chinese team, on the other hand, still had a shot at progressing to the next round with a big win against Japan and a victory over North Korea.

Early in the game, China took control with two quick goals from Yu Jiaqi and Lu Jiayu in the 11th and 15th minutes, respectively. Xia Lejiao extended the lead to 3-0 just two minutes later. The Vietnamese team struggled to contain the Chinese attackers but managed to stabilize their defense as the game progressed.

In the second half, Vietnamese fans finally had something to cheer about when Ngoc Minh Chuyen scored a goal in the 74th minute, assisted by Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu. However, their joy was short-lived as China added three more goals towards the end of the match through Lu Jiayu, Yu Jiaqi, and Huo Yuexin, sealing a 6-1 victory.

Despite the defeat, China’s hopes of advancing were dashed as North Korea secured the top spot in Group B with a 1-0 win over Japan, courtesy of a goal from Chae Un-Yong in the 22nd minute. North Korea’s dominant performance throughout the group stage earned them a spot in the semi-finals against Uzbekistan’s U20 women.

Japan, finishing second in Group B, will face Australia’s U20 women in the semi-finals. As the tournament progresses, the Vietnamese U20 women may have been unable to clinch a win, but they showed resilience and determination in their final game against a strong Chinese side.

In the end, China bid farewell to the tournament with a bittersweet victory, while North Korea emerged as the top team in Group B, setting the stage for exciting semi-final matchups in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup.
