Vietnam’s U20 Women Suffer Heavy Defeat Against Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s U20 Women

Vietnam’s U20 women’s team faced another tough test in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup, having suffered a heavy defeat to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The match started with an early goal from Chae Un-Yong in the 3rd minute, followed by another quick goal by Min Kyong-Jin. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea dominated the first half, extending their lead to 5-0 with a hat trick from Pak Mi Ryong.

The second half saw no respite for Vietnam as Hyon Ji-Hyang added a sixth goal. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s dominance was briefly challenged when Han Hong-Ryon received a red card, leaving them with only 10 players. Despite the numerical advantage, Vietnam struggled to mount any significant attacks, with goalkeeper Le Thi Thu keeping the scoreline from escalating further.

After conceding 16 goals in just two matches, Vietnam’s U20 women were eliminated from the tournament. Their final game against China on March 10 will serve as a learning experience for the young team, despite their early exit. Coach Akira Ijiri’s side gained valuable exposure to high-level competition, which will undoubtedly benefit their development in the future.
