Central Coast Mariners Dominate Odisha FC in AFC Cup Inter-Zonal Semi Finals First Leg

Central Coast Mariners secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Odisha FC in the first leg of the AFC Cup Inter-Zonal Semi Finals. Mikael Doka and Storm Roux found the net before Doka sealed his brace with a penalty kick. Ronald Barcellos added a fourth goal in the dying minutes, setting up the Mariners with a significant lead heading into the return leg.

The Mariners dominated the first half with numerous missed chances, including an early opportunity for Jing Reec that was denied by Odisha’s Amrinder Singh. Despite Odisha settling in after the initial onslaught, Central Coast broke the deadlock with Doka’s strike off Josh Nisbet’s assist.

Roux extended the lead in the second half with a spectacular finish after a series of quick passes. Odisha had some chances through Roy Krishna and Diego Maurício, but goalkeeper Danny Vukovic stood firm. A penalty earned by Farrell, converted by Doka in a clever Panenka style, put Central Coast further ahead.

Barcellos’ late goal further solidified the Mariners’ dominant display, putting them in a favorable position for the second leg. A potential meeting with either FC Abdysh-Ata Kant or Taichung Futuro awaits in the next round, with the ultimate goal of securing a spot in the AFC Cup Final. Fans can look forward to an exciting clash as Central Coast looks to continue their impressive form in the competition.
