Vietnamese Team Prepares for Crucial Matches Against Indonesia in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers
The Vietnamese national team is gearing up for two crucial matches against Indonesia in March as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Coach Philippe Troussier is feeling the pressure following a string of disappointing results.
Despite facing setbacks with injuries to Doan Van Hau and Que Ngoc Hai, there is a glimmer of hope as midfielder Nguyen Tuan Anh has returned to training with his club, Hoang Anh Gia Lai. The news was confirmed by the team’s media outlet, stating that Tuan Anh rejoined his teammates on March 6.
Tuan Anh had been sidelined with a knee injury sustained during a match against Quang Nam in the V-League 2023/24 season. Initially expected to be out for an extended period, his recovery has been faster than anticipated.
This weekend, Tuan Anh will be in action as his club takes on Ho Chi Minh City at Pleiku Stadium. A win in this match could provide a much-needed boost for his team in the standings.
Looking ahead, the national team is set to regroup in Hanoi starting March 12. Simultaneously, the U23 Vietnam squad will also assemble for upcoming friendly matches in Tajikistan as they prepare for the 2024 U23 Asian Finals. Approximately 60 players from both teams will be called up for training, with the best performers earning a spot in the squad for the Indonesia clashes on March 21 and 26.
With preparations in full swing and Tuan Anh’s return to fitness, the Vietnamese team aims to overcome their recent struggles and secure positive results in the upcoming matches.
