Persepolis Defeats Zob Ahan 1-0 in Iran Persian Gulf Pro League
Persepolis secured a 1-0 victory over Zob Ahan in the latest Iran Persian Gulf Pro League showdown. The match, which took place at Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium, saw Giorgi Gvelesiani successfully convert a penalty just nine minutes into the game after being fouled in Zob Ahan’s area.
Zob Ahan’s challenges were further compounded in the 53rd minute when Mohsen Azarbad received a straight red card for a violent foul on Persepolis’ Ali Nemati, reducing the team to 10 men. Despite their numerical disadvantage, Zob Ahan created numerous opportunities but failed to capitalize on them.
In other league matches, Shams Azar and Mes Rafsanjan battled to a goalless draw in Qazvin, while Tractor emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Esteghlal Khuzestan in Tabriz. Paykan and Sanat Naft settled for a 2-2 draw in Tehran. However, severe weather conditions forced the suspension of the Aluminum Arak versus Havadar encounter.
At present, Esteghlal leads the league standings with 39 points, closely followed by Persepolis in second place with 36 points. The competition remains intense as teams vie for crucial points to enhance their positions in the league hierarchy.
