Futsal Whites to Face Tough International Opposition in Preparations for 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup
The Futsal Whites from New Zealand are gearing up for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup with a challenging international series in late March. This three-match event will see them face off against futsal powerhouses IR Iran, Morocco, and Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
IR Iran, currently ranked 7th by FIFA, has a strong futsal pedigree, having consistently qualified for the FIFA Futsal World Cup since 1992. They achieved a third-place finish in 2016 and have an impressive record of 12 AFC Asian Futsal Cup victories. Morocco, ranked 8th, has also been a force to reckon with, clinching three consecutive Arab Futsal Cups and winning the Futsal Confederations Cup in 2022.
Vietnam, ranked at 38th, is aiming for their third consecutive FIFA Futsal World Cup appearance. They reached the Round of 16 in the 2021 edition and will be looking to make a mark in the upcoming qualifiers following this series.
On the other hand, New Zealand’s Futsal Whites, ranked 49th by FIFA, are heading into their first-ever FIFA Futsal World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6, 2024, featuring a total of 24 teams vying for glory.
This international series against formidable opponents will serve as a crucial test for the Futsal Whites as they prepare to make their debut on the global stage. With top-tier competition lined up, the team will have the opportunity to fine-tune their strategies and showcase their skills ahead of the prestigious FIFA Futsal World Cup.
