Western United sign Danish goalkeeper Kathrine Larsen to replace A-League Goalkeeper of the Year
Western United have officially signed Denmark’s Kathrine Larsen as their new goalkeeper, taking over from former Liberty A-League Goalkeeper of the Year Hillary Beall, who returned to the NWSL. Larsen, a free agent, joins Western until the season’s end, bringing with her international experience with Denmark, having been part of their 2023 World Cup squad.
The 30-year-old shot-stopper previously played for Hammarby in Sweden alongside Australian stars Kyra Cooney-Cross, Courtney Nevin, and Elise Kellond-Knight in 2022. Larsen expressed her excitement about the move, emphasizing the team’s current success and her eagerness to contribute to maintaining their position at the top of the table.
With a recent stint at Brondby, Larsen showcased her talent in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and helped her team finish as runners-up in the Danish Kvindeliga while securing the third most clean sheets during the season.
