Pelligra Group Takes Helm: Perth Glory Enters New Era in Football

The Australian Professional Leagues (APL) has officially declared the Pelligra Group as the new proprietors of the Perth Glory Football Club. The Pelligra Group, a private family-owned business, has recently extended its reach by acquiring interests in various sporting clubs globally, including Catania Football Club s.r.l. in Europe and ownership in basketball, baseball, and ice hockey clubs in Australia.

A-Leagues commissioner Nick Garcia expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, welcoming Ross Pelligra to the A-Leagues as Perth Glory enters a new era. Pelligra’s success in both business and football operations locally and abroad positions him as a valuable asset for Perth Glory and the A-Leagues. The commissioner highlighted the incredible opportunity for football in Western Australia with the belief that the club’s future is now in secure hands under the new ownership.

Ross Pelligra, the new owner, articulated his excitement about re-establishing Perth Glory as a benchmark club in Australian football. Drawing on his experience with other sporting clubs in Australia and Italy, Pelligra emphasized the powerful impact a sporting club can have on a community. He outlined three key pillars for the club’s initial focus: reconnecting, driving success, and creating long-term sustainability.

Pelligra fondly recalled watching Perth Glory in his childhood, envisioning a return to the club’s glory days. He expressed a desire to make the club the envy of every A-League team and reunite the strong football community in Perth.

Perth Glory CEO Anthony Radich acknowledged the challenging period for the club and welcomed the Pelligra Group’s wealth of experience, knowledge, and resources. Radich highlighted the potential for the club’s revitalization, improved commercial relationships, and reconnection with the Western Australian community.

The sale and transition of Perth Glory’s license to the Pelligra Group have been successfully completed, subject to standard regulatory checks by Football Australia. The next Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s match against Brisbane Roar is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, at HBF Park. In the Liberty A-League Women, Perth Glory will face the Central Coast Mariners at Macedonia Park on Sunday, February 18.

The Pelligra Group, a multi-generational Victorian-based developer and construction business, boasts extensive experience in property development, particularly in the industrial and commercial sectors. Their involvement in the sports sector includes ownership of various sporting teams and the development of sporting infrastructure.

As the Pelligra Group takes the reins, Perth Glory anticipates a bright new era, aiming to recapture the energy and excitement that marked the club’s early days and make significant strides both on and off the pitch.
