Al Hilal Makes World Football History with 28 Consecutive Wins

Al Hilal Manager Jorge Jesus Celebrates Historic 28th Consecutive Win

Jeddah: Al Hilal manager Jorge Jesus expressed his joy as the Roshn Saudi League club made history by winning their 28th consecutive match in all competitions. Their 2-0 victory over Al Ittihad in the AFC Champions League surpassed The News Saints’ previous record of 27 wins from 2016-17, and Ajax’s 26-game streak from 1971-1972.
The RSL leaders remain unbeaten this season, sit 12 points above in the league standings, and have progressed to the semi-finals of the King’s Cup and AFC Champions League. Their historic streak began on September 25, with standout wins including a 3-0 triumph over Al Nassr in the Riyadh Derby.
Jesus thanked everyone at the club for their contributions to the record-breaking achievement but emphasized the importance of focusing on winning trophies rather than setting records.
In the recent victory over Al Ittihad, goals from Yasser Al Shahrani and Malcom sealed a 2-0 win, advancing Al Hilal to a 4-0 aggregate AFC Champions League quarter-final win. The team also matched the world record on Friday by defeating Al Riyadh 3-1 in the Roshn Saudi League.
Despite missing Neymar due to a season-ending injury in October, Al Hilal’s success was a collective effort, with both international and Saudi Arabian players stepping up. Jesus underscored the importance of continued hard work towards the goal of securing silverware this season, highlighting the significance of team effort and unity.
