Indonesia National Team Calls Up Four New Faces for Crucial Match Against Vietnam

Indonesia’s head coach, Shin Tae-yong, has introduced four new players to the national team roster in preparation for their upcoming crucial matches against Vietnam. The additions include Jay Idzes from Venezia, Thom Haye from Heerenveen, Ragnar Oratmangoen from Fortuna Sittard, and Nathan Tjoe Aon from Swansea City. These players will join the squad on 17 March 2024.

The Indonesian team will face Vietnam twice within a week as part of their Group F, Round 2 qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The first match is scheduled for 21 March 2024 at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, followed by another game at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi five days later.

Currently positioned at the bottom of Group F, Indonesia suffered a 5-1 defeat to Iraq and managed a 1-1 draw against the Philippines in their previous matches. On the other hand, Vietnam holds the second spot after securing a victory against the Philippines and facing a loss against Iraq.

The national team has released a training squad list consisting of goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and strikers. Notable names include Nadeo Argawinata, Elkan Baggott, Thom Haye, Ragnar Oratmangoen, and Egy Maulana, among others. This lineup showcases the diverse talent pool that Indonesia is looking to leverage in their upcoming encounters.
