Al-Hussein Irbid Club Signs Fourth Foreign Player, Italo Silva
Al-Hussein Irbid Club, the top team in the Jordanian Professional League, has officially signed their fourth foreign professional player, Italo Silva. The club disclosed the signing on their Facebook page, noting that Silva will take on the left-back role. Silva, a 33-year-old Brazilian born player standing at 169 cm, previously played for Santa Cruz in 2022 and lifted the Lopez Cup with Ferroviario in 2018.
The completion of Silva’s contract bolsters Al-Hussein Irbid’s quest for their inaugural League and Jordan Cup titles. Alongside Silva, the team’s roster of foreign professionals includes Senegalese Abdelaziz Inday, Nigerian Ajagun, and Brazilian Fernando Nathan.
Sitting atop the league standings with 37 points after 13 rounds, Al-Hussein Irbid is poised to secure the championship title, positioned 7 points ahead of Al-Faisaly. In 13 league matches, they have won 12 encounters and drawn once. A championship victory with over 60 points may set a new league record.
Following the departure of Portuguese coach João Motta, the club appointed local coach Jamal Mahmoud, a former national team player, to lead the team. Despite the club’s establishment in 1964, Al-Hussein Irbid has never clinched a league or Jordan Cup title, reflecting on their storied history.
Supported fervently by their loyal fans, Al-Hussein Irbid aims for a breakthrough, spurred on by President Amer Abu Obaid’s ambition. Abu Obaid’s vision extends toward international success, with aspirations for the team to compete in the World Club Championship.
The club’s journey underlines a transformation from a mid-tier contender to a title-challenging outfit, fueled by ambition and a hunger for success. As Al-Hussein Irbid embarks on a historic pursuit, the team’s faithful supporters stand unwaveringly behind them, providing the emotional backing crucial for their aspirations.
