IFAB Approves Changes and Clarifications to Laws of the Game during 138th AGM
The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has made significant updates to the Laws of the Game during its 138th Annual General Meeting held in Scotland. The changes involve player safety, equipment regulations, fouls, and penalty kicks.
Among the approved trials are new protocols for domestic competitions, such as restricting only team captains to approach referees in certain instances, introducing cooling-off periods for players, and extending the time limit for goalkeepers to hold the ball to eight seconds.
Moreover, adjustments to temporary dismissals in youth and grassroots football have been implemented, with any potential broader application subject to future review.
Furthermore, the IFAB has agreed to extend FIFA’s trial of referees publicly announcing final decisions and reasoning following VAR reviews to additional competitions. Competitions wishing to participate must adhere to FIFA’s refereeing and technology guidelines.
This development signifies a continued commitment to enhancing the sport’s integrity and ensuring fair play. Stay tuned for more updates on football regulations and advancements. #AFF #FIFA
