Jesse Lingard reportedly booed during K League 1 debut with FC Seoul in South Korea
Former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard made his K League 1 debut with FC Seoul in South Korea, where he appeared to receive a mix of cheers and boos from the crowd. Lingard, who joined FC Seoul last month after being a free agent since leaving Nottingham Forest in June, made his first appearance as a substitute in a match against Gwangju. Despite the buzz surrounding his arrival, Lingard’s debut did not go as planned, as his team conceded a second goal shortly after he came on and ultimately lost 2-0. Lingard was also booked for a late tackle during stoppage time.
The 28-year-old midfielder is expected to make his home debut for FC Seoul against Incheon at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. Lingard’s move to South Korea came after turning down 26 other offers, and he is currently earning £17,500 per week, a significant decrease from the £100,000 per week he made at Manchester United. Lingard expressed his excitement about the new challenge and opportunity to embrace the culture of South Korea, emphasizing his desire to enjoy playing football again and showcase his skills to the Korean fans.
While his debut may not have gone as hoped, Lingard remains optimistic about his future with FC Seoul and is determined to make a positive impact on the team. With his experience and talent, Lingard will be looking to prove himself in the K League 1 and contribute to FC Seoul’s success in the upcoming matches.
