For the first time, South Korea will host the top annual Asian football awards ceremony this October, according to the Korea Football Association (KFA). The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Annual Awards will take place at the Grand Peace Hall on the Kyung Hee University campus in Seoul on October 29, 2024.
This 28th edition of the awards will recognize the best achievements in Asian football from the second half of 2023 to the first half of 2024. Approximately 600 participants are expected to attend the prestigious event. Key awards include Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year, Asian International Player of the Year, and Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year.
Following the awards, the AFC Conference will be held from October 30 to November 1 at Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido. Around 200 senior football executives from AFC’s 47 member states will gather to discuss key developments in the sport.
The KFA highlighted that hosting both the awards and conference in Seoul will enhance South Korea’s international football profile and bolster the nation’s sports diplomacy efforts.
Last year, Korean defender Kim Min-jae, currently with Bayern Munich, was named Asian International Player of the Year, and anticipation is high for this year’s honorees.
