Changchun Yatai Bolster Squad with Four New Signings Ahead of 2024 Chinese Super League Season

Changchun Yatai have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2024 Chinese Super League season by signing four new players after already securing six additions earlier in the month. Manager Chen Yang aims to guide his team to greater success following a ninth-place finish last season and a 13th-place result in 2022.

The new signings include Slovenian striker Robert Beric, Brazilian forward Guilherme, and Serbian center back Lazar Rosic. They join team captain Serginho and midfielder Peter Zulj, who are returning after a successful partnership in 2023. Additionally, Chinese players Sun Guoliang, Wang Yu, and Wang Yaopeng have been added to the defensive lineup.

The goalkeeper position has been a point of contention for Changchun Yatai over the years, with several players rotating through the role. Wu Yake has been a consistent presence but has faced competition for the starting spot. With the arrival of Zou Dehai from Beijing Guoan, the club hopes to solidify the position and provide a challenge to Wu Yake, who is 33 years old.

Defensively, the team has brought in Li Shenyuan on loan from Shanghai Port to strengthen the backline. The 26-year-old right back will compete with existing players like Abduhamit Abdugheni for a starting role. Defensive midfielder Zhang Huachen has also been added to provide support and experience in the midfield.

Young talent Tian Yuda has been signed on a permanent deal after impressing during a loan spell from Beijing Guoan. The 22-year-old forward offers a promising option for the future, with the potential to develop into a regular first-team player.

With the season opener against Shandong Taishan approaching on March 1st, Chen Yang will be eager to see how his new signings integrate into the squad and compete for starting positions. The team’s proactive approach in the transfer market reflects a commitment to improving on their past performances and striving for success in the upcoming season.
