Western Sydney Wanderers Re-Sign Rising Star Oscar Priestman

Western Sydney Wanderers have secured the future of promising midfielder Oscar Priestman by extending his contract until the end of the 2026/27 season. The 21-year-old, who joined the Wanderers from cross-town rivals Sydney FC at the beginning of last season, has quickly made an impact, amassing 25 appearances in his debut A-League campaign.

Priestman’s contract extension comes after the Wanderers’ busy offseason, which included high-profile signings such as former World Cup and UEFA Champions League winner Juan Mata. The young midfielder expressed his excitement about the new deal and his commitment to contributing to the team’s success this season.

“I’m just excited and grateful to re-sign with the club,” Priestman said. “We’ve got a really good group of boys and coaching staff, and I’m looking forward to helping the club achieve its goals.”

Priestman, who also featured for Australia’s Under-23 Olyroos squad earlier this year, is viewed as a key asset for the club’s future. Head coach Alen Stajcic, who took over the reins during the off-season, praised the midfielder’s talent and work ethic, expressing his optimism about Priestman’s development in the A-League.

“Oscar is a tremendous young person and footballer, and will be a huge asset to the club in the future,” Stajcic said. “With his work ethic and talent, it will be great to see him grow within our team.”

The re-signing of Priestman adds to Western Sydney Wanderers’ strategic moves during the off-season, as they aim to bounce back after missing out on the Finals Series last season.
