Palestinians Face Tough Challenge Against South Korea in World Cup Qualifiers

The Palestinian football team is closer to a World Cup berth than ever before as they prepare for the third round of AFC qualifiers. Their journey begins with a daunting challenge against South Korea, a team that has qualified for the past 10 World Cup tournaments and boasts star players like Son Heung-min. The match will be held in Seoul, in front of 66,000 fans.

Palestine, ranked 96th in the world, is aiming to finish in the top four of their group to secure a spot in the next qualifying rounds. Head coach Makram Daboub is proud of the team’s progress and confident they can compete with Asia’s best.

Despite the difficulties, including playing their “home” games abroad due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, Palestine’s coach Makram Daboub remains optimistic about their ability to finish in the top four of Group B, which also includes Iraq, Jordan, Oman, and Kuwait.

This round is critical, as the top two teams from each group will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, while those finishing third and fourth will move to further qualifying rounds. For Palestine, this marks a new milestone as they attempt to make history on the global football stage.
