Challenge Cup to Conclude After Over a Year, Says Dawn

“National Challenge Cup Knockout Stages to be Held in Lahore Next Month”

The much-anticipated conclusion of the National Challenge Cup is finally on the horizon as the Pakistan Football Federation Normalisation Committee revealed plans to hold the knockout stages in Lahore next month, marking the end of a 15-month journey. Spearheaded by Haroon Malik, the FIFA-appointed PFF NC oversaw the kickoff of the men’s tournament back in January last year, with only the group stage completed thus far.

Despite facing setbacks that led to a delay in organizing the knockout round last year, the PFF NC has now set a window from May 1 to 12 to wrap up the tournament, starting with the round of 16 matches in Lahore. The official announcement by the PFF NC highlighted the participation of the top two teams from each of the seven groups, in addition to the two best third-placed teams, ensuring a competitive lineup for the knockout stage.

The roster for the round of 16 features a diverse mix of teams, including Khan Research Laboratories, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, WSTC, and Otto Crain, among others. With preparations in full swing, invitations have been extended to all participating teams, with a deadline for confirmations set for April 10. Once the lineup is finalized, the draws will be conducted to determine the match schedule for the upcoming fixtures.

Football enthusiasts across the nation eagerly anticipate the thrilling culmination of the National Challenge Cup, set to bring together top-tier teams vying for glory on the field. Stay tuned for more updates as the countdown begins towards crowning the champions of the prestigious tournament.
