Punjab FC Head Coach Staikos Vergetis Cautious Ahead of ISL Match Against Odisha FC

Punjab FC, led by head coach Staikos Vergetis, is gearing up to face off against Odisha FC in the ISL at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Sitting at the eighth spot with 21 points, a win could propel Punjab to sixth place, surpassing Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC. Meanwhile, Odisha FC stands strong in third place with 36 points, a contender for the League Shield.

The teams previously clashed in December 2023, with Odisha narrowly clinching a victory with a goal from Roy Krishna. Highlighting the growth in his team since then, Vergetis praised Odisha FC’s effective style of play.

Looking ahead, Punjab FC is set to play their final league matches against Mohun Bagan SG and East Bengal FC following the Odisha game. Vergetis emphasized the importance of focusing on each game individually, ensuring the team is prepared for the challenges ahead.

Defender Khaiminthang Lhungdim, standing out for his contributions to the team, expressed confidence in their preparation and determination to secure three points. With Abhishek Singh vying for a starting spot, Lhungdim highlighted their healthy competition and camaraderie.

Vergetis commended both right-backs for their talent and dedication, hopeful to see them represent the national team one day. Lhungdim concluded the press conference emphasizing the team’s morale and target to secure crucial wins in the final matches, treating each game like a final.

As Punjab FC readies for their upcoming matches, the team’s unity, determination, and focus on securing vital points will be instrumental in their quest for success in the ISL.
