BG Pathum United Suffers Shock Defeat to Trat in Thai League 1_Action-Packed Match Recap
BG Pathum United, despite their star-studded lineup, faced a setback in Thai League 1 as they succumbed to a surprising 2-1 loss against Trat during their away fixture. The Rabbits, who have only managed to secure one victory in their last five league matches, currently sit in fourth place with 37 points from 22 games. Buriram United leads the league table with 46 points, setting the pace for other contenders.
The match against Trat saw the Rabbits taking the lead courtesy of a goal from Singaporean striker Ikhsan Fandi in the 61st minute. However, their advantage was short-lived as the hosts staged a remarkable comeback with goals from Lidor Cohen in the 68th minute and Ben Azubel in the 71st minute to secure a surprising victory. Pathum’s coach, Makoto Teguramori, attributed the loss to his team’s inefficiency in converting scoring opportunities, lamenting missed chances by Freddy Alvarez and Danilo Alves.
In a separate fixture on Saturday night, Lamphun Warriors managed to salvage a 2-2 draw against Port with Dennis Murillo scoring the crucial equalizer in the six minutes of added time. Worachit Kanitsribumphen opened the scoring for Port in the first half, with Akarapong Pumwisat leveling the score for Lamphun in the 59th minute. Felipe Amorim restored Port’s lead, only for Murillo to rescue a point for Lamphun from the penalty spot in the dying moments of the game.
Moreover, Sukhothai secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Ratchaburi at their home ground, leaving the visiting team’s chairman, Tanawat Nitikanchana, visibly displeased with the outcome. Tanawat expressed frustration over a disallowed goal by Korawit Tasa, labeling the match as the worst performance by his team. Meanwhile, Uthai Thani and PT Prachuap settled for a 2-2 draw in their encounter, ensuring both sides shared the spoils from the hard-fought contest.
