Qatar Stars League 2024 Concludes with Al-Wakrah Club Crowned Champions
The first edition of the Qatar Stars League 2024 has concluded, with Al-Wakrah Club emerging victorious after defeating Al-Ahly Club 5-3 in the final match on Saturday evening, March 23, 2024. The President & Executive Director of the Qatar Stars League Foundation, Mr. Hani Taleb Ballan, was present at the event, along with other distinguished guests.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, Al-Wakrah Club secured the title, with Al-Ahly Club finishing in second place and Al-Sadd Club in third place. The final day featured the quarter-finals, semi-finals, third-place match, and the ultimate showdown:
In the quarter-finals, Al-Sadd triumphed over Al-Rayyan with a score of 5-4, Al-Ahly defeated Muaither 4-1, Al-Wakrah outplayed Al-Gharafa 6-1, and Al Shamal edged past Al Markhiya 4-3. Moving on to the semi-finals, Al-Ahly claimed a 5-3 victory against Al-Sadd, while Al-Wakrah secured a dominant 5-0 win over Al-Shamal.
In the battle for third and fourth places, Al-Sadd emerged victorious over Al-Shamal, winning 1-0. The final match saw Al-Wakrah emerging as the ultimate winner, defeating Al-Ahly 5-3 to clinch the title of the tournament’s first edition.
After this remarkable victory, Al Wakrah Club now qualifies to participate in the qualifiers for the 2024 Electronic Sports World Cup. This championship marks a significant milestone in the world of e-sports, aiming to encourage participation, talent development, and the integration of clubs into the realm of online gaming.
The Qatar Stars League Electronic Championship unfolded over three days at the Farcho City Hall in the Doha Festival City Mall, featuring the popular game FC 24. With 12 teams from the Expo Stars League clubs for the 2023-2024 season, this initiative seeks to pave the way for clubs to engage in e-sports and nurture talent in this ever-evolving domain.
