Vietnam’s Failures: Nguyen Filip’s Firm Declaration

“Vietnam Prepares for Must-Win Rematch Against Indonesia to Keep World Cup Hopes Alive”

Coach Philippe Troussier’s Vietnam team suffered a second defeat in a row, this time falling 0-1 to Indonesia at the Bung Karno Stadium. The loss at the 2023 Asian Cup resulted in the Golden Dragons dropping to 3rd in the 2022 World Cup qualifying round, with 3 points, one behind Indonesia in 2nd.

To advance, Vietnam must win the upcoming rematch against Indonesia at My Dinh. Star player Nguyen Filip expressed determination, stating, “Even though the team lost its advantage, there is still hope. The return leg is ahead in a few days. Our plan has not changed as we want to win 3 points.”

Preparations for the crucial rematch will see Vietnam return home, with coach Troussier and the team set to train on March 23 and 24. On March 25, both teams will familiarize themselves with My Dinh Stadium ahead of the match on March 26.

Aside from aiming for victory to regain the edge, securing all 3 points is essential for Vietnam to prevent a drastic drop in the FIFA rankings.

Vietnam’s fate hangs in the balance as they gear up to face Indonesia once more, ready to fight for their World Cup qualifying hopes.
