India U23 Squad Announced for Friendly Matches Against Malaysia: 26 Probables Selected
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has revealed a list of 26 potential players for the upcoming U23 squad before the Malaysia tour. The Indian U23 team is scheduled to face off against the Malaysia U23 team in two friendly games on March 22 and March 25 during the FIFA International window. Steering the Indian U23 side is newly appointed head coach Naushad Moosa, assisted by Noel Wilson and Dipankar Choudhury.
Moosa has curated a 26-member squad for the pre-tour training camp, kicking off on March 15 in New Delhi. The final 23-man selection will be finalized before their departure to Malaysia on March 20. The provisional list comprises talented individuals across different positions, ranging from goalkeepers Arsh Anwer Shaikh, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, and Vishal Yadav to forwards like Abdul Rabeeh, Gurkirat Singh, and Irfan Yadwad. Noteworthy midfielders such as Abhishek Suryavanshi, Brison Fernandes, and Vibin Mohanan also make the cut.
In the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) season, certain U23 players have notably stood out. Prabhsukhan Singh Gill of East Bengal FC has been exceptional as their main goalkeeper, showcasing a solid performance with a high save ratio and multiple clean sheets. Isak Vanlalruatfela of Odisha FC has distinguished himself as both a top U23 and Indian player, contributing substantially to his team’s success. Vibin Mohanan of Kerala Blasters FC and Mohammed Sanan of Jamshedpur FC have also made significant impacts, displaying their skill and potential on the field.
Moreover, Parthib Gogoi of NorthEast United FC has exhibited proficiency in scoring from outside the box, establishing himself as a lethal attacker. Vishnu PV of East Bengal FC and Abhishek Suryavanshi of Mohun Bagan Super Giant have received well-deserved call-ups to the national team due to their commendable performances.
