J.League Sets Record Attendance for Opening Season with Over 680,000 Spectators

The J.League has reported a record-breaking number of attendees for the opening season, welcoming over 680,000 spectators across Rounds 1 and 2. The official release on March 4th confirmed a total of 683,587 participants for this season’s kickoff matches (J1, J2, J3 Round 1: February 23-25, Round 2: March 1-3).

Comparing this season to the previous year, the total number of visitors during the opening period of J1-J3 saw a remarkable 118% increase, with 576,947 people attending. This surge in attendance marks the highest number of visitors for an opening season so far. In comparison to the record-breaking opening season of 2019, there was a 114% spike, with 598,402 attendees.

The average number of spectators at the end of the second round also demonstrated significant growth, with a 118% increase from the previous year (9,616 people) to reach 11,393 attendees this season. Compared to 2019 figures (10,317 people), this season boasted a 110% jump in attendance. These impressive numbers indicate a strong start to the season for J.League football.

Overall, the league’s success in attracting fans to the stadium bodes well for the upcoming matches and showcases the enduring appeal of football in Japan.
