Oman to Host Soccer Six-Six World Cup for the First Time in the Middle East: Press Conference Summary

The Sultanate of Oman is set to make history by hosting the Soccer Six-Six World Cup for the first time in the Middle East. The tournament, scheduled from November 28 to December 8, was officially announced at the Oman International Convention and Exhibition Center. The press conference, under the patronage of Her Highness Mrs. Dr. Mona Bint. Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, highlighted the efforts made to secure the hosting rights.

Walid Al-Obaidani, President of the “Soca” Federation in the Middle East and CEO of Sports Manufacturers, emphasized the significance of hosting the largest six-a-side football tournament in the world. With over 44 teams from various continents expected to participate, the tournament promises significant sporting, economic, tourism, and societal benefits for the Sultanate of Oman.

The event will span 10 days, featuring teams from around the globe. The mechanism for team participation will be announced at a later date, with a national team selection process underway. Al-Obaidani revealed plans for the tournament’s preparation campaign, including stops in Mexico and within Oman to engage the public and ensure a successful event.

The International Soka Federation expressed delight in Oman’s selection as the tournament host, citing the country’s commitment to meeting all necessary conditions. With a strong emphasis on developing and promoting the sport globally, the Federation anticipates a remarkable experience for participants and spectators alike.

The unveiling of the tournament logo, inspired by the Museum of Oman Through Time, was accompanied by a journey through past editions of the event. The event concluded with a freestyle performance by global influencer Sian, adding an entertaining touch to the proceedings.

Questions from the media addressed logistical aspects of hosting the tournament and potential conflicts with other regional events. Al-Obaidani reassured attendees that the tournament’s timing would precede the Gulf Cup tournament, and efforts to ensure a seamless organization process have been ongoing for several years.

In a gesture of appreciation, Sports Manufacturers Company presented a commemorative gift to the ceremony sponsor, highlighting the collaborative spirit and enthusiasm surrounding the upcoming Soccer Six-Six World Cup in Oman.
