Nepal and Palestine have both secured their spots in the semi-finals of the West Asian Football Federation Women’s Championship 2024 after winning their respective matches on Thursday.
Nepal dominated Iraq with a 5-0 victory, with Sabitra Bhandari scoring all five goals. The team didn’t waste time in settling down, with Bhandari scoring in the 14th and 15th minutes to put them in a commanding position. The striker, who plays her club football in France, completed her hat-trick in the 36th minute with her fourth following seven minutes later.
Meanwhile, Palestine defeated Syria 1-0, with Miral Qassis scoring their winner in the 87th minute. Having defeated Iraq in their opener, the win secured Palestine their semi-final berth with a match to spare.
n Friday’s action, already-qualified Lebanon and defending championos Jordan face off to determine the Group A winners while Saudi Arabia and Guam will be looking to sign off with a victory, with neither side having registered a point.
