Transfer News: Brazilian Midfielder Everton Moves to Hanoi FC in Vietnam’s First Division
Brazilian midfielder Everton, previously of Urawa Reds and Vegalta Sendai, has made a move from Portimonense, where Japan’s Kosuke Nakamura also plays, to Hanoi FC in Vietnam. The 31-year-old, standing at 181cm, is a right-footed central midfielder with experience at FC Porto and various loan spells. He notched 4 goals in 51 games in Japan’s J1 League during his time with Urawa.
Following his stint at Sendai, where he played 33 games with 1 goal and 1 assist in the J2 League, Everton returned to Portimonense before sealing his switch to Hanoi FC this month. The club has had a rough start to the season, currently boasting 6 wins, 1 draw, and 6 losses in the first division league. With managerial changes aplenty, they turned to former Kashima Antlers boss Daiki Iwamasa at the beginning of the year.
After a recent 2-0 defeat to Thanh Hoa, Coach Iwamasa expressed his desire to bring in a player who fits the team’s style, particularly eyeing a Japanese player for the right wing position. Should the club’s higher-ups approve, a Japanese player could join the Vietnam league for the first time this season. The league has previously seen the likes of Daisuke Matsui and Hiroyuki Takasaki in action.
With the transfer window set to close on the 23rd of the month, all eyes are on Hanoi FC’s potential moves as they look to navigate a challenging campaign in Vietnam’s top flight.
