DPR Korea Crushes Costa Rica 9-0 to Secure U-20 Women’s World Cup Progress

DPR Korea continued their dominant run in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, securing a spot in the knockout stage with a commanding 9-0 victory over Costa Rica on Thursday. The match, played at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Cali, showcased DPR Korea’s tactical brilliance and ruthlessness in front of goal.

An early own goal from Costa Rica’s Saray Benavides opened the floodgates, with DPR Korea’s relentless attack netting five goals before halftime. Jon Ryong Jong’s pinpoint left-footed deliveries played a key role, assisting multiple goals. The second half saw DPR Korea continue their onslaught, with Kim Song Gyong scoring twice and Jong Kum sealing the victory with a late goal.

DPR Korea will face the Netherlands in their final group match on Sunday as they aim to add to their previous titles from 2006 and 2016.
