Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors to Finish in Bottom Half of K League for First Time in History

Nine-time K League champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have secured a spot in the bottom half of the K League 1 standings for the first time in their storied history. Following a goalless draw against FC Seoul at Jeonju World Cup Stadium, Jeonbuk reached 30 points with seven wins, nine draws, and 13 losses this season. The result confirmed they will not break into the top six to qualify for “Final A” in the 12-team league.

The split system, introduced in 2012, divides the league into Final A and Final B after 33 matches, with teams playing five more matches to complete the season. This is the first time Jeonbuk will find themselves in Final B.

Jeonbuk’s current position is 11th, just above the direct relegation zone. With only four matches left before the split, their focus now shifts to avoiding relegation to the second-tier K League 2. They share the same points as Daegu FC but lead on goals scored. Meanwhile, Incheon United and Daejeon Hana Citizen are just above them with a slight points advantage.

At the top of the table, Gangwon FC remains first, tied with Ulsan HD FC at 51 points, with Gangwon leading on goals scored.
