Selangor FC Responds to Punishments from MFL Regarding Attendance Issue

Selangor FC addressed the Malaysian Football League’s penalty following their absence from the Sumbangsih Cup Match, the kickoff for the 2024 Super League campaign. The club acknowledged the league’s ruling, mentioning an unsuccessful attempt to reschedule the fixture due to ongoing legal issues involving player Faisal Halim and other national team members. Despite their plea, the MFL denied the postponement request, prompting Selangor FC to contemplate their next move. The club is evaluating potential avenues for recourse, as stated in a recent press release.

The repercussions for Selangor FC’s absence are severe, including a hefty RM100,000 fine, reimbursement for the match-related expenses incurred by the opposing team and the league, a deduction of three league points, and a subsequent match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) played behind closed doors. Selangor FC is now deliberating on the most appropriate course of action in response to the league’s sanctions.
