2024 Asian U23 Football Championship Finals Opening in Qatar
The Asian U23 Football Championship finals kick off tonight at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar, with the tournament’s ultimate showdown set for May 3. Leading up to this momentous occasion, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, the President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), has been appointed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as the Head of the AFC Delegation for the 2024 U23 Asian Finals.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan holds key roles within AFC, serving as the Chairman of the AFC Competition Committee for the 2023-2027 term, Commissioner of the AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee for the same term, as well as other significant positions within the Asian Football Federation (AFF). With a track record of overseeing major Asian tournaments, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan’s expertise and leadership have once again been entrusted by AFC for the 2024 U23 Asian Finals.
The 2024 Asian U23 Championship features 16 competing teams across four stadiums: Khalifa International Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium, and Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. The top three teams will secure spots in the 2024 Paris Olympics, while the fourth-place team will face Guinea in a play-off on May 9 for an additional Olympic berth.
In Group D of the tournament, the U23 Vietnam team will contend with U23 Kuwait, U23 Malaysia, and U23 Uzbekistan. The Vietnam squad arrived on April 8 to commence training ahead of the championship, engaging in a friendly match against U23 Jordan and transitioning to the official tournament schedule starting April 13.
