Exclusive: FC Goa in Advanced Negotiations with Mumbai City FC’s Jorge Pereyra Diaz as Contract Extension Looms

FC Goa is in advanced negotiations with 33-year-old Argentine striker Jorge Pereyra Diaz, who currently plays for Mumbai City FC, exclusive confirmation from IFTWC reveals. On the contrary, Mumbai City FC seems reluctant to extend the contract of the Argentine forward for the upcoming 2024-25 ISL football today season.

Diaz kickstarted his football journey in Argentina with Club Ferro before transitioning to Club Atlético Lanús. Throughout his career, he has represented multiple clubs including Johor Darul Ta’zim in Malaysia, Club Atlético Independiente, and Club León in Argentina, Club Bolivar in Bolivia, and San Marcos in Chile. Most recently, the 33-year-old featured for Club Atlético Platense, where he was loaned to fellow ISL side Kerala Blasters before joining Mumbai City FC in August 2022.

During his time at Mumbai City FC, Diaz has left a significant mark, making 55 appearances, scoring 27 goals, and providing 8 assists. His presence in the 2023/2024 Indian Super League has been noteworthy, participating in 14 matches and amassing 1,115 minutes of playtime. Diaz has been in the starting XI for 13 of these games and substituted once. Currently, he stands joint seventh in the ISL goalscoring charts for the season, notching eight goals and emerging as his team’s top scorer while receiving three yellow cards.
