MFL Announces Calendar for 2024/25 Malaysian League Competition with 12 Factors Considered

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has disclosed the schedule for the upcoming 2024/25 Malaysian League season, considering a multitude of factors. This calendar entails fixtures from week 1 to week 13 (LS1 – LS13) to allow clubs ample time to gear up for the new season.

Thirteen clubs are set to partake in the 2024-2025 Super League matches, as outlined in the schedule. Nonetheless, should the First Instance Body (FIB) rule that only 12 clubs are eligible for this season, the MFL will promptly adjust the league calendar accordingly.

Kick-off times for the published schedule will be confirmed by the official MFL broadcaster before any updates are made. The determination of this schedule has incorporated 12 crucial factors, aligning with the 2023 FIFA Calendar, covering essential events like National Team training (2026 World Cup Qualification), AFC Champions League competitions, ASEAN Club Championship, and more.

Additionally, logistical movements, VAR operations, match venue sharing, club rest periods, and governmental release days have all factored into the scheduling decisions, as outlined by the MFL.

The esteemed Sumbangsih Match, known as the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup 2024, is scheduled for May 10, 2024. This traditional kickoff game for the Super League will feature Johor Darul Ta’zim, the 2023 Super League Champion, facing off against Selangor FC, the 2023 Super League Runner-up at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

Points garnered during the Sumbangsih Match will contribute to the overall tally in the 2024-2025 Super League campaign, continuing an established tradition from previous seasons. Fans can anticipate an intense showdown between the top two finishers from the prior season in this eagerly awaited match.
