Upgrades Underway at MBPJ Stadium Ahead of 2024/2025 Malaysia Super League Kick-Off
Selangor FC’s home ground, the MBPJ Stadium, is undergoing a major facelift ahead of the 2024/2025 Malaysia Super League season. The upgrades are essential to meet the standards required by the Malaysian League and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as the stadium will host Selangor’s matches in the upcoming AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) campaign.
A recent Tiktok video shared by user @fatamorgana_byfairuz showcased the ongoing enhancements at the MBPJ Stadium, indicating positive progress. Notable changes include the installation of plastic chairs throughout the seating area, a newly added roof at a gathering space reserved for the Selangor supporters group UltraSel, and the retention of Cow Grass on the field. Additionally, improvements have been made to the racing area, giving the stadium a fresh and upgraded appearance.
In response to the upgrades, Selangor also revamped the media practitioners’ seating area to enhance their overall experience at the stadium. CEO Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon of Selangor FC expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative efforts of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) in ensuring the successful completion of the upgrade project by the end of April.
Dr. Johan commended the progress of the improvements, noting that they are nearly 70% complete and aiming for full readiness by the designated timeframe. The commitment to enhancing the MBPJ Stadium reflects Selangor’s dedication to competing at the highest level, demonstrated by their participation in the upcoming AFC Champions League 2 under the guidance of new manager Nidzam Jamil. As the 2023 Super League runners-up, Selangor is poised to be a formidable contender in the 2024/2025 Malaysia League season, solidifying their position as a top team in Malaysian football.
These developments at the MBPJ Stadium signify Selangor’s strategic approach and ambition to excel both domestically and on the continental stage, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead for the Red and Yellow Giants.
