Exciting I-League Match Week Recap: Mohammedan Holds Title Edge
Indian football’s I-League witnessed a gripping round of matches as the competition nears its climax. Mohammedan finds themselves at the top of the table after the latest results, putting pressure on the contenders as the title edges closer. Namdhari emerged victorious against Rajasthan United, securing a 2-0 win with second-half goals from Manvir Singh and Ivan Garrido. This victory elevates Namdhari to 10th place, ahead of Aizawl, while Rajasthan retains their 8th spot, surpassing Churchill Brothers.
Inter Kashi continued their impressive streak, defeating Shillong with a commanding performance that saw goals from Mario Barco and Tejas. Inter Kashi’s unbeaten run of nine matches places them ahead of Gokulam Kerala and Real Kashmir in the standings, with 39 points secured from 22 games. Shillong occupies the 6th position with 31 points.
Real Kashmir’s hopes of clinching the title diminished in a draw against Mohammedan. Led by Ishfaq Ahmed, Real Kashmir struggled to secure wins in their last four matches, settling for draws. Mohammedan now sits comfortably at the top with 48 points, closely pursued by Sreenidi. Real Kashmir occupies the 4th position with 37 points.
Delhi FC stunned Gokulam Kerala with a 2-0 victory, with Sergio Barboza netting a brace in the second half. Delhi’s win propels them to 7th place, just two points behind Shillong. Gokulam Kerala, in 5th place, falls behind Real Kashmir with 36 points after their defeat.
Sreenidi Deccan relinquished their two-goal lead against Churchill Brothers, settling for a 2-2 draw in a match that witnessed goals from William Oliviera, Lalromawia, Stendly Fernandes, and Lamgoulen Semkholun. This draw complicates Sreenidi’s title aspirations, as they now face a challenging road ahead. Churchill shares the 10th spot with Aizawl FC on 21 points.
Neroca triumphed over TRAU in a crucial battle at the bottom of the table, clinching a 2-1 victory with goals from Ansumana Kromah and Lourembam David Singh. Neroca remains in 12th place with 13 points, while TRAU occupies the last position with 10 points.
Aizawl FC overwhelmed Churchill Brothers in a stunning 4-0 victory, with goals from Laldanmawia, Lalrinzuala, and Lalthankhuma. This emphatic win propels Aizawl to 9th place with 24 points, on par with Churchill but with a superior goal difference. Stay tuned for more updates on Indian football from IFTWC.
