Nidzam Jamil Appointed as New Team Manager for Selangor FC for 2024-2025 Season
Selangor FC has appointed Nidzam Jamil as their new team manager for the upcoming 2024-2025 season, taking over from Tan Cheng Hoe. The announcement was made by the Merah Kuning management in a media release on the team’s website.
Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, the Chief Executive Officer of Selangor, praised Nidzam’s appointment, citing his experience in Malaysian football and his familiarity with the club’s culture and players. According to Dr. Johan, Nidzam is the right choice to lead the team forward, especially on the Asian stage.
Nidzam is no stranger to Selangor, having represented the team from 2000 to 2004, winning trophies such as the FA Cup, Sumbangsih Cup, and Malaysia Cup during his playing career. After retiring in 2008, he had successful coaching stints with SPA FC and Felda United FC before joining Selangor as an assistant coach in 2022.
Following the dismissal of the German head coach, Michael Feichtenbeiner, Nidzam took over as interim coach before Cheng Hoe’s arrival in September 2022. Despite facing competition from three foreign coaches for the managerial role, Nidzam was selected based on his performance and familiarity with the team.
Nidzam’s appointment is seen as a strategic decision by Selangor to maintain stability and continuity within the coaching staff. With his deep understanding of Malaysian football and his past success as a player and coach, Nidzam is expected to lead Selangor through the challenges of the upcoming season.
Overall, Nidzam’s appointment as the new team manager signals Selangor’s commitment to building a strong foundation for success in the 2024-2025 season. His experience, leadership skills, and connection to the club make him a fitting choice to guide Selangor towards achieving their goals in the upcoming campaign.
