FC Goa Clinches Playoff Spot in ISL After Thrilling Draw Against Punjab FC
FC Goa secured a spot in the Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Punjab FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The match kept the fans on the edge of their seats, with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess.
Early on, the Gaurs dominated the game, with Carl McHugh opening the scoring thanks to an excellent corner kick routine orchestrated by Borja Herrera. Despite their efforts, Punjab FC fought back in the second half through the trio of Madih Talal, Luka Majcen, and Wilmar Jordan Gil, who combined well to level the score.
A see-saw battle ensued, as Punjab FC took the lead with Majcen’s goal, only for FC Goa to respond with Noah Sadaoui converting a penalty. Juan Mera then put Punjab FC ahead with a solo effort, but FC Goa’s Carlos Martinez ensured they salvaged a crucial point late in the game.
Luka Majcen was the standout performer, contributing with a goal, an assist, and an impressive all-around display. FC Goa will now face Bengaluru FC next, while Punjab FC’s next match is against Odisha FC on April 2.
