Thrilling Action in Thai League 1: Muang Thong United and Nakhon Pathom United Secure Wins as Buriram United Held to Draw

Buriram United, the current leaders in the Thai League 1 title race, stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Chonburi on Sunday night. The Thunder Castle took the lead in the 25th minute courtesy of a goal from 18-year-old Thanakrit Chotmuangpak. However, Amadou Ouattara rescued a point for the Sharks with a late strike just two minutes before the final whistle.

Buriram coach Arthur Papas commended his team for handling the pressure during the match, describing the draw as a fair result for both sides. He acknowledged Chonburi for their relentless pressure and the tough challenge they presented. Papas highlighted Buriram’s strong form in the past nine league games, emphasizing the players’ ability to cope with high-pressure situations.

Over at Muang Thong United, Poramet Arjvilai stole the show by scoring a hat-trick in their commanding 4-0 win against Khon Kaen United. Poramet, recently called up to the Thai national team for the upcoming 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, found the back of the net in the 30th, 73rd, and 87th minutes. Stefan Scepovic added another goal for the Kirins in the 66th minute.

In another match on Sunday, Nakhon Pathom United clinched a vital 2-1 victory over Trat, who currently sit at the bottom of the league standings. With this result, Nakhon Pathom United secured three crucial points in the title race.

As the Thai League 1 takes a brief hiatus, attention now shifts to the Thai national team as they prepare for their World Cup qualifying matches against South Korea. The break in the league schedule will allow players to focus on their national team duties and strive for success on the international stage.
