Thai League 1 Recap: Muang Thong United’s Poramet Arjvilai shines in victory
Leaders Buriram United faced a setback in their Thai League 1 title pursuit as they settled for a 1-1 draw against Chonburi on Sunday night. Thanakrit Chotmuangpak, an 18-year-old, handed Buriram the advantage in the 25th minute, only for Amadou Ouattara to level the score with a well-executed strike just before the final whistle.
Speaking after the match, Buriram coach Arthur Papas commended his players for handling the pressure exerted by Chonburi, labeling the draw as a fair outcome for both teams. Papas acknowledged Chonburi’s efforts in creating difficulties for his team and highlighted his squad’s resilience over the past nine league games, during which they remained undefeated.
Across town, Muang Thong United secured a convincing 4-0 win over Khon Kaen United, fueled by Poramet Arjvilai’s stellar performance which included a hat-trick. Poramet, recently called up to the Thai national team for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, found the back of the net in the 30th, 73rd, and 87th minutes. Stefan Scepovic contributed another goal in the 66th minute to seal the victory for the hosts.
Elsewhere, Nakhon Pathom United clinched a 2-1 win over bottom-ranked Trat on Sunday, boosting their points tally in the league standings.
With these results, the Thai League 1 will now enter a brief hiatus to allow the national team players ample time to prepare for their crucial World Cup qualifying matches against South Korea. The pause in domestic action will provide an opportunity for players to focus on international duty and represent their country on the global stage.
