Prospective Indonesian Naturalized Player Thom Haye Ready to Support Development of Indonesian Football

Prospective Indonesian naturalized player Thom Haye expressed his desire to contribute to the development of Indonesian football following his acquisition of Indonesian citizenship. The 29-year-old footballer has played for six clubs throughout his career, with five based in the Netherlands – AZ Alkmaar, Willem II, ADO Den Haag, NAC Breda, and his current team SC Heerenveen. He also had a brief stint in Italy with Lecce.

During a virtual meeting with the DPR RI Commission X and the Ad Interim Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia, Thom expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain Indonesian citizenship alongside his colleagues Maarten Paes and Ragnar Oratmangoen. He highlighted the potential of utilizing his experience to benefit the development of football in Indonesia.

Thom, along with Ragnar and Maarten, acknowledged their pride in soon becoming Indonesian citizens and their eagerness to represent the Indonesian national team. They all aspire to be exemplary citizens of their new country and contribute positively to its growth.

Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Thom has Indonesian heritage from his father’s grandfather who hails from Solo, Central Java. Currently playing for SC Heerenveen, Thom has made 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

The impending naturalization of Thom, Maarten, and Ragnar underscores their commitment to Indonesia and its football development. Their dedication to the process and their desire to contribute to the advancement of Indonesian football reflect their pride in being part of this significant journey.
