Melaka Football Association Confirms Non-Participation in 2024/25 Super League
Melaka Football Association (MAFA) has announced that the Melaka team will not be taking part in the Super League for the upcoming 2024/25 season. This decision was conveyed through an official communication on MAFA’s Facebook page by the Deputy President, Datuk Mohd Saiful Bin Mat Sapri.
According to the statement, discussions between MAFA and an AFL League club did not reach a consensus regarding the terms of Melaka’s participation in the Super League. As a result, the team will shift its focus towards the state development squads, such as the President’s Cup, Youth Cup, Futsal, and Women’s Soccer, with the aim of enhancing their performance.
In addition, MAFA will continue to concentrate on improving the administrative, financial, and sponsorship aspects in preparation for the future. The bond between MAFA and Melaka football supporters’ clubs is expected to remain strong, with mutual support envisioned to help Melaka reemerge and make an impact on the national football stage.
Despite speculations at the end of the previous year suggesting Melaka’s potential return to the Super League, MAFA’s official statement now clarifies that the team will not be partaking in the competition for the 2024/25 season. Despite filing an appeal with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the Malaysian Football League (MFL), Melaka’s absence from the Super League is now confirmed for the upcoming season.
