The 2024 edition of the J.League YBC Levain Cup kicked off with a bang in the first round of matches. The revamped tournament format saw four J3 clubs triumph over their J2 opponents to secure a spot in the second round. YS Yokohama emerged victorious against Mito with a narrow 1-0 win, while Ryukyu, Numazu, and Kitakyushu also secured wins to advance.

Ryukyu clinched a 2-1 victory over Fujieda, Numazu triumphed over Sendai with a 3-2 scoreline, and Kitakyushu defeated Oita 1-0 in overtime. These results set the stage for an exciting start to the tournament, with the remaining eight first-round matches scheduled to take place on the 13th.

The YBC Levain Cup’s first round featured a total of 57 clubs, excluding three teams, including Yokohama M, due to their participation in the Asia Champions League (ACL) final tournament.
