Meet Bart Ramselaar: The Lion City Sailors’ Dutch Daredevil with an Uncanny Resemblance to Bart Simpson

Bart Ramselaar, the new recruit for Lion City Sailors, has ventured beyond his native Netherlands for the first time, with Singapore as his new playground. The 27-year-old has quickly adapted to his surroundings, even bravely trying out local cuisine like the notorious durian fruit, despite its pungent smell. Growing up playing street football in Amersfoort, Ramselaar honed his skills dreaming of emulating his idol Ronaldinho.

Accepted into FC Utrecht’s youth academy at 14, Ramselaar went on to make his Eredivisie debut at 18 under Erik ten Hag’s management. A move to PSV followed in 2016, where he experienced both triumphs and setbacks. Winning the Eredivisie in 2018 and playing for the Dutch national team were highlights of his career, but a change in management at PSV led to his eventual return to Utrecht.

Reflecting on his time at PSV, Ramselaar acknowledged the challenges he faced under a new coach’s regime, which ultimately led to his decision to return to familiar territory at Utrecht. Understanding the importance of a strong rapport with his coaches, Ramselaar credits mentors like ten Hag and Cocu for shaping his development as a player.

As he embarks on a new chapter with Lion City Sailors, Ramselaar brings a wealth of experience and a hunger to succeed. With his resilient spirit and determination, the Dutch playmaker aims to make a mark in Singapore’s football scene, drawing inspiration from his past trials and triumphs on the European stage.
